From experience the most common causes of obesity are overeating and not enougth physical movement. The explanation is clear. Because of a lack of physical activity, people cannot burn all the fats they eat. As a result, the remaining amount of fat becomes part of their body, leading to overweight and obesity.
Most people think they can reduce weight by taking less food. But all hopes are confounded soon after they start dieting. In a natural effort to conserve energy and boost its survival chances, body starts to slow down and weight loss tends to slow dawn as well. So the best method for reducing weight is to increase the physical activity level. At the same time people need a strong motivation in order to exert a mental control on amount of food they eat and correlate it with body necessities.
When I first started. I was in my 40’s and 18 kilos overweight, my wife had tried to make sure I ate low fat and healthy foods. I however kept gaining weight, the only time I lost weight was during the holidays. I was tired of being overweight and it was time to change my old couch potato habits. My main goal at that point was to just lose the weight and get toned.
Because of my age and fitness level I had to choose a training program that suited me. One that was at an intensity of training that fit my ability at that time. A friend told me about a training program he was doing and I decided to join him, I later found out it was called the Power90 Program.
One point Iwant to share with you is that if you want to succeed in anything the most important element you need to succeed is desire closely followed by a clear goal. The key to any training is build a managable routine for me the Power90 program did that i began training 6 days a week. The workouts are only 30-35 minutes each day and my friend drummed into me that it was critical that I stuck with it in order to see results. They say that it takes 21 days to develop a habit. I was able to lose the 12 kilos of weight and began to get toned.
Honestly, if you can stick with the training for that amount of time it then starts to become part of your normal routine. Initially we trained together, then I began training by myself and at my own pace, when it suited me from the comfort of my home gym, some weights in the garage actually.
Due to my work hours I now had the ability to stay at home and do the training. I no longer have to trudge out to gym, which can be a chore by itself. I had no excuses for not working out all I did was to put in the effort to do the workout.
After I finished my Power90 training I felt I was ready to move on to PX90 and believe me that is a big leap. It is much more intense than Power90 and looking back I realize that I would have set myself up for failure if I would have started with PX90. The training is hard but you are the only one that can decide if you want to make a change in your life. As I said before, you must have the desire to commit to training for ninety days.
Have a goal in mind, a reason why you want to get in better shape and work towards it. For me it was because I was tired of being out of shape and wanted to be able to run around with my kids. What is it for you? You are the only one that can answer these questions. If you know the answer, then the training information and tips contained in this website will work for you.
The main thing I want eveyone to keep in mind is that you don’t want to be overwhelmed with your workout program. If you are in my age range or really overweight like I was I recommend you start withan easier program perhaps something like the Power90. Remember whatever program you begin don’t get discouraged after a couple of weeks and give up. Remember your goal.
